What is a digital service record?
Since around 2012, most manufacturers have recorded service work digitally instead of stamping paper service books. These electronic records are stored in the manufacturer's central database and linked to your vehicle's VIN. They're tamper-proof and can't be lost or forged like paper records. How far back do digital records go?
Most manufacturers began recording services digitally from around 2012, though some started earlier. Our reports show all available dealer service records from when digital recording began for each brand. Earlier services may only exist in paper format.
Will independent garage services show up?
Our reports show services performed at franchised (main dealer) workshops only. Independent garages typically don't have access to manufacturer systems to record their work digitally. However, main dealer records are often the most valuable for proving full service history when selling.
