How to Check Car Service History Online
Get your vehicle's official manufacturer service history in three simple steps
Enter your UK registration or VIN, complete secure payment, and receive your official digital service history report in minutes.
We also offer a Vehicle Check covering finance, write-off, stolen and mileage data, and a Full Check that combines both. The same three steps apply to every product.
Enter Your VIN or Registration
UK Registration (Easiest): Simply enter your number plate (e.g., AB12 CDE) and we'll automatically look up your vehicle and find the VIN.
VIN (17 characters): Enter your Vehicle Identification Number directly. This is useful for imported vehicles or if you don't have the registration to hand.
Where to find your VIN: Check your V5C registration document (Section D), the base of your windscreen, or the driver's side door frame. See our complete VIN location guide

What's the difference between a Service History Check and a Vehicle Check?
The Service History Check (£9.99) pulls dealership service records straight from manufacturer systems, so you can see how the car has been maintained. The Vehicle History Check (£14.99) is a background check powered by Experian covering outstanding finance, insurance write-offs, stolen markers, mileage anomalies, keeper history and plate or colour changes. They cover different questions, so most buyers want both, which is why we offer the Full Vehicle Check (£19.99) bundling them with a £5 saving.
Which check should I buy?
If you're buying a used car, the Full Vehicle Check is the safest option (service history plus finance, write-off, stolen and mileage checks, all in one report). If you only need to prove maintenance on a car you already own or are selling, the Service History Check on its own is enough. If you're a trade buyer or doing quick due diligence on a cash sale where service records matter less, the Vehicle History Check on its own gives you the provenance side.
Service History Check
What information is included in a Service History Check report?
Service History Check reports include official manufacturer dealership service records: service dates, mileage at each service, types of service performed (annual, interim, major), and specific service actions completed. We exclusively check OE (Original Equipment) manufacturer databases for 39 brands from Model Year 2012 onwards.
Which manufacturers do you cover?
What if no service history is found?
Reports showing zero manufacturer service records still include MOT history, mileage records, and vehicle details. We offer refunds when we can't generate your report due to technical issues (VIN not found, unsupported vehicle, or database unavailable). See our refund policy for details.
Vehicle History Check
Where does the Vehicle Check data come from?
Finance, write-off, stolen, plate, colour and keeper data come from Experian Autocheck. Vehicle specification, tax status and registration come from the DVLA. MOT history comes from the DVSA. The Service History data comes directly from manufacturer dealership management systems for 39 brands.
Does a Vehicle Check work for any UK car?
Yes. The Vehicle Check works on any UK-registered car, regardless of age, make or where it was bought. You only need the registration number to run the check.
What do the write-off categories mean?
Cat A and Cat B are structural write-offs that should not return to the road (A is scrap only, B allows recoverable parts). Cat C and Cat D are older terms (now retired) covering financial write-offs. Cat S means structural damage that has been repaired and put back on the road; Cat N covers non-structural damage repaired. We show the category exactly as Experian reports it.
