Terms of Service
Last updated: 7 August 2026
1. Who We Are and These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a contract between you and Service Stamp Ltd (Company No. 17159900), a company registered in England and Wales with its registered office at Unit 5 Grahamstown Rd, Sedbury, Chepstow, NP16 7AD, trading as ServiceStamp ("we", "our", "us", or "the Service"). By accessing and using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Service.
ServiceStamp offers vehicle history checking services covering manufacturer dealership service records and, where purchased, vehicle provenance data (finance, write-off, stolen markers and more) supplied by Experian, plus a Digital Service Book for keeping your own service records.
In these Terms, a consumer is an individual buying wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft or profession. A business customer is anyone else, including trade account holders (see Section 12). Some sections, marked accordingly, apply only to consumers or only to business customers.
2. Our Products
2.1 Paid Checks
- Service History Check (£12.99): official manufacturer dealership service records for 39 car brands, MOT history with mileage timeline, and basic vehicle details. Coverage for vehicles from Model Year 2012 onwards. A completed check also includes a free Digital Service Book for the checked vehicle (Section 2.2).
- Vehicle History Check (£9.99): outstanding finance check, insurance write-off and salvage history, police and insurance stolen-vehicle markers, mileage anomaly indicators, plate and colour change history, high-risk markers, and additional vehicle details. Provenance data is sourced from Experian.
- Full Vehicle Check (£17.99): the Service History Check and Vehicle History Check bundled into one report, with a £5 saving versus buying separately.
Every paid check comes with lifetime access to the resulting report, as defined in Section 3.
2.2 Digital Service Book and Slots
The Digital Service Book lets you keep a vehicle's service history in your dashboard: you can upload photographs and scans of paper service books, garage invoices and receipts, have them read by AI into draft records you review and confirm (Section 10), add records manually, share a read-only page with potential buyers, and export a PDF.
- Retail accounts include 1 Digital Service Book; trade accounts include 30
- Each completed, non-refunded Service History Check adds a free book for the checked vehicle without using your allowance
- Extra slots are a one-off purchase of £4.99 each (trade: £1.99); if a slot purchase is refunded in full, the slot is revoked
- Fair-use limits apply to uploads (files per batch, documents per day and per book); current limits are shown in the product
2.3 Free Car Check and Free Tools
Our Free Car Check (also presented as our mileage check, MOT history check, car tax calculator, SORN status check and car spec check tools) shows data retrieved from the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service and the DVSA MOT history service, together with an indicative vehicle tax estimate calculated by us. It is provided free of charge, without an account, for information only.
- Results reflect the data DVLA and DVSA hold at the time of the lookup; results for a registration may be cached for a short period (currently up to six hours), so a repeat lookup can show the same snapshot
- Tax figures are indicative only and are not a quotation or advice; always confirm with DVLA before relying on them
- Fair-use rate limits apply, and we may block automated or abusive use
- You can ask for a copy of a result by email; providing an email address is optional, and marketing consent is a separate, optional choice
- The free check does not include manufacturer service records or Experian provenance data; those are part of our paid checks
Sections 4 (data sources and limitations), 8 (statutory rights) and 14 (liability) apply to free checks in the same way as to paid reports, except that nothing is payable for a free check and so nothing is refundable.
2.4 What We Do NOT Provide
Our reports do not include:
- Independent (non-dealership) garage service records, except owner-provided records clearly labelled as such (Section 4.7)
- Accident or damage history outside of insurance write-off records
- Vehicle valuation, condition or inspection services
- Title or ownership transfer guarantees
The Service History Check shows only services performed at authorized franchise dealerships. The Vehicle History Check is a snapshot of third-party records at the time the report was generated and is not a guarantee of clear title.
3. Report Delivery and Lifetime Access
Report generation starts immediately after payment. Most reports are ready within seconds; occasionally a supplier responds slowly and a report can take a few minutes, in which case we email you the link as soon as it is ready.
Your report lives at a unique link, which we email to you and which also appears in your dashboard (Section 9). Anyone with the link can view the report, so keep it secure and only share it deliberately, for example with a potential buyer.
Lifetime access means your report stays available for as long as ServiceStamp operates. If we ever discontinue the Service, we will give you at least 60 days' notice by email to the address on your order and the opportunity to download PDF copies of your reports before they become unavailable. Deleting your account permanently deletes your reports (Section 9).
Format and compatibility: reports are web pages that work in any up-to-date web browser on desktop or mobile, with a PDF download that opens in standard PDF readers. Reports have no technical protection measures.
4. Data Sources and Limitations
Sections 4.1–4.3 below apply to the Service History Check. Sections 4.4–4.6 apply to the Vehicle History Check. The Full Vehicle Check contains both, so both sets of limitations apply. Section 4.7 applies to any paid report.
4.1 Coverage Limitations
- Model Year: Generally limited to vehicles from 2012 onwards (manufacturer-specific)
- Geographic Coverage: Primarily European market vehicles
- Supported Brands: 39 manufacturers (see homepage for full list)
- Service Type: Only authorized dealership services are recorded
4.2 Data Accuracy
We retrieve data from official manufacturer databases through authorized third-party data providers. ServiceStamp uses industry-leading data sources to access manufacturer dealership service records. While we strive for accuracy:
- We rely on data provided by manufacturer systems
- We cannot guarantee completeness if dealerships failed to log services
- Manufacturer database availability may vary
- Some manufacturers provide limited information (e.g., "workshop remarks only")
4.3 Third-Party Data Providers
ServiceStamp retrieves manufacturer service history data through authorized third-party data providers who have direct access to manufacturer databases. While we use industry-leading providers to ensure data quality:
- We cannot guarantee 100% accuracy or completeness of manufacturer-provided records
- Data availability is subject to manufacturer database systems and their third-party access policies
- ServiceStamp is not liable for errors, omissions, or inconsistencies in data provided by manufacturer databases or our data providers, subject always to Sections 8 and 14
- Service history data reflects what was recorded by authorized dealerships at the time of service
4.4 Vehicle History Check: Third-Party Data Sources
The information provided in the Vehicle History Check is sourced from third-party data providers, including but not limited to:
- Experian: finance agreements, write-off and salvage data, stolen-vehicle records and indemnity cover
- Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA): vehicle registration, tax and basic vehicle data
- Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA): MOT history and vehicle recall data
- Police National Computer (PNC): police stolen-vehicle records, accessed via authorised providers
- Motor Insurance Anti-Fraud and Theft Register (MIAFTR): insurance stolen-vehicle records, accessed via authorised providers
We do not own, control, or verify the accuracy of data held by these third-party sources. The information we provide is only as accurate and complete as the data supplied to us by these providers.
4.5 Vehicle History Check: Data Accuracy Caveats
Important: please read this section carefully. While we endeavour to provide accurate and up-to-date information, we make no warranties, representations or guarantees (whether express or implied) regarding the accuracy, completeness or reliability of any third-party data; whether the information is current or has been updated by our data providers; the absence of errors, omissions or inaccuracies; or whether all relevant information about a vehicle has been reported to the appropriate databases. This section does not limit your statutory rights (Section 8).
Reasons why data may be incomplete or inaccurate include:
- Not all finance agreements are registered with finance databases
- Stolen vehicles may not be reported to police, or may be reported with incorrect details
- Write-offs may not be recorded if not claimed through insurance
- There may be delays between events occurring and data being updated in third-party databases
- Historical records may be incomplete, especially for older vehicles
- Human error in data entry at any point in the data chain
- Vehicles imported from outside the UK may have limited history
Our reports should be used as one part of your due diligence when purchasing a vehicle, not as the sole basis for your decision. Always conduct a physical inspection, verify documents (V5C, MOT certificates, service history) and consider an independent mechanical check before purchase.
4.6 Experian Data Guarantee and Indemnity
Certain data within the Vehicle History Check (outstanding finance, stolen status and insurance write-off information) is provided by Experian. Experian offers indemnity cover in relation to that data, subject to the current Experian Data Guarantee terms. The cover amount and term that applies to a specific report is shown in the "Indemnity" section of that report.
This guarantee and any associated indemnity coverage is provided directly by Experian, not by Service Stamp Ltd. We do not administer, process or handle any indemnity claims. Any claims under this guarantee must be made directly to Experian in accordance with their procedures, and are subject to specific conditions and exclusions set by Experian.
4.7 Independent Records from Other Owners
Where another owner of the same vehicle has uploaded documents to their Digital Service Book and confirmed the records read from them, those confirmed records may appear in paid reports for that vehicle in a clearly labelled Independent Records section. They are owner-provided statements, not manufacturer records, and are not verified by us (Section 10.2). The uploaded documents themselves are never shown to anyone else, and no details about the person who provided a record are included. If a contributor deletes a record, a vehicle or their account, the record is removed from future reports.
5. Pricing and Payment
5.1 Prices
Our current prices are:
- Service History Check: £12.99 per vehicle (£8.99 for returning retail customers, applied automatically at checkout)
- Vehicle History Check: £9.99 per vehicle
- Full Vehicle Check: £17.99 per vehicle (£5 saving versus buying separately)
- Digital Service Book slot: £4.99 one-off per extra slot
- Trade pricing: see Section 12
Upgrading a Service History Check to a Full Vehicle Check during checkout costs the difference between the two prices. After a purchase, we may offer retail customers the complementary check at a reduced price on the report page: currently £4.99 to add a Vehicle History Check, or £7.99 to add a Service History Check.
Each fee is a one-time payment. There are no subscriptions and no recurring charges. Each paid check provides lifetime access to the resulting report (Section 3).
5.2 Payment Processing
- All payments are processed securely through Stripe
- We accept major credit and debit cards
- Payment must be completed before report generation
- The price you see is the total you pay
5.3 Price Changes
We may change our pricing at any time. Price changes never affect orders already paid for.
6. Your Right to Cancel (Consumers)
If you are a consumer buying online, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 normally give you 14 days from the day the contract is made to cancel and receive a full refund.
Our reports are digital content that is generated and supplied immediately after payment. By completing checkout you agree to these Terms, request immediate supply, and acknowledge that the 14-day cancellation right ends once your report has been supplied.
If you have bought something we have not yet supplied, you can cancel within 14 days for a full refund by contacting us via our contact form. You can use the model cancellation form below, but you do not have to.
Model cancellation form (complete and return only if you wish to cancel):
To Service Stamp Ltd, Unit 5 Grahamstown Rd, Sedbury, Chepstow, NP16 7AD (or via our contact form at servicestamp.co.uk/contact): I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract for the supply of the following digital content [describe the purchase], ordered on [date], name of consumer, address of consumer, signature (only if this form is notified on paper), date.
This section does not limit the refunds in our Refund Policy, or your statutory rights under Section 8. This section does not apply to business customers (Section 12).
7. Refunds
We refund automatically, in full, when we cannot produce what you paid for: for example when we cannot match your vehicle, when a manufacturer database or supplier is unavailable, or when a technical failure on our side prevents your report from being generated or delivered. Duplicate purchases are refunded for any product.
A Service History Check that returns zero manufacturer records is a delivered report: the absence of dealership records is itself the answer, and the report still includes MOT history and vehicle details. As acknowledged at checkout, it is not refundable.
The complete product-by-product rules, including request windows and the request process, are in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
8. Your Statutory Rights (Consumer Rights Act 2015)
If you are a consumer, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that apply regardless of anything else in these Terms. Digital content we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, and services must be performed with reasonable care and skill.
- If digital content we supply is faulty, you are entitled to a repair or replacement: for a report, we re-run or correct it
- If we cannot fix it within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience, you are entitled to a price reduction, which can be up to a full refund
- If digital content we supply damages your device or other digital content, and we failed to use reasonable care and skill, you may be entitled to compensation under section 46 of the Act
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits these rights. Please note that our service is to report what the connected databases hold: a report that accurately reflects those records is the service as described, even where the underlying data is incomplete or contains third-party errors (Section 4).
9. Your Account
An account is created automatically with your order email address at your first checkout, or when you create a Digital Service Book. There are no passwords: we email you a secure sign-in link when you want to log in. Your dashboard lists your reports, receipts and Digital Service Books.
Keep access to your email account secure, since anyone who controls it can sign in to your ServiceStamp account. You can delete your account at any time from your dashboard settings. Deletion is permanent and immediately removes your reports, Digital Service Books and uploaded documents; order and payment records are retained with personal details removed where accounting rules require it (see our Privacy Policy).
10. User Responsibilities and Content You Upload
By using our Service, you agree to:
- Provide accurate VIN and registration information
- Use the Service for lawful purposes only
- Not attempt to reverse-engineer or abuse our systems
- Not use automated tools to make bulk requests
- Keep your report URLs secure (they grant access to anyone with the link)
- Not share or resell reports for commercial purposes without permission
10.1 Content You Upload (Digital Service Book)
The Digital Service Book lets you upload photographs and scans of your paper service book, garage invoices and receipts. By uploading a document you:
- Confirm you have the right to upload it and that it relates to a vehicle whose history you legitimately hold
- Grant us a limited licence to store the document and process it, including with AI reading technology, to provide the service to you
- Agree that service records you confirm may be included, without attribution and clearly labelled as owner-provided, in ServiceStamp vehicle history products relating to the same vehicle and in anonymised, aggregated datasets. Your uploaded documents themselves are never shared. Deleting a record, a vehicle, or your account removes it from future inclusion
- Agree not to upload content that is unlawful, deceptive, infringes anyone's rights, or contains personal information about other people beyond what normally appears on a service record
Uploaded documents remain yours. Deleting a document, a vehicle, or your account removes them from our storage. We may remove content or disable sharing links that breach these rules, and repeated abuse may lead to account termination.
10.2 AI-Read Records Are Unverified Until You Confirm Them
Records proposed from your uploaded documents are produced by AI reading and can contain mistakes. They are drafts until you review and confirm them. Confirmed records are your own statements about the vehicle, checked and approved by you. They are not verified by ServiceStamp or by any manufacturer, and shared Digital Service Book pages carry an owner-provided disclaimer for this reason. Manufacturer-sourced service history remains a separate, paid product.
11. Reviews and the Review Reward
You may leave one review per purchased report. Reviews must be honest and based on your genuine experience of a real purchase. We moderate reviews before publication and may decline or remove reviews that are offensive, misleading, unrelated to the Service, or that we reasonably believe are not genuine.
We may offer a thank-you reward, currently one free Full Vehicle Check, for an approved genuine review of a completed, non-refunded report. Any reward is limited to one per account, has no cash value, does not expire, and is delivered as a redemption link by email. Redeeming a reward creates a free order: no payment is taken, so nothing is refundable. Rewards are a goodwill gesture, never payment for a review, and never depend on posting a review on any external platform (such as Trustpilot). We may change or withdraw the reward programme at any time; rewards already granted are honoured.
12. Trade and Business Customers
Trade accounts are for motor trade and other business customers, and are activated by us following an application. By applying for or using a trade account you confirm that you are buying in the course of business and not as a consumer. The consumer cancellation rights in Section 6 and the consumer remedies in Section 8 do not apply to business purchases.
- Flat pricing: £3.99 per Service History Check, £3.99 per Vehicle History Check, £6.99 per Full Vehicle Check, with no volume commitments
- Digital Service Book: 30 books included; extra slots £1.99 each
- Retail offers do not apply: repeat-customer pricing and post-purchase discounts are retail-only
- Zero-record auto-refund: where a standalone trade Service History Check returns zero manufacturer service records, we refund it automatically and in full; the report is still delivered with MOT history and vehicle details. This does not apply to Full Vehicle Check bundles or to any other product
- VAT: Service Stamp Ltd is not VAT registered. No VAT is charged and we do not issue VAT invoices
We may suspend or withdraw a trade account that is used outside the course of business or in breach of these Terms.
13. Intellectual Property
The reports we generate are for your personal use. You own the right to use your purchased report for:
- Verifying a vehicle before purchase
- Proving service history when selling your vehicle
- Personal record-keeping
However, the ServiceStamp website, branding, and software remain our intellectual property.
14. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law. If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights, including those in Section 8.
Subject to that:
- We provide reports "as is" based on manufacturer and third-party database information
- If we break these Terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach, but we are not responsible for loss that is unforeseeable
- We are not liable for decisions you make based on report information
- We are not liable for losses arising from inaccuracies, errors or omissions in data supplied to us by third-party providers (including Experian, DVLA, DVSA and other sources listed in Section 4.4)
- Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant product
- Indemnity cover relating to Experian-supplied data is provided by Experian directly, as described in Section 4.6, and is outside our liability
- We do not warrant that manufacturer or third-party databases are complete or error-free
- If you are a business customer, we are not liable for loss of profits, loss of business, business interruption, or any indirect or consequential loss
Important: Our service is one tool for evaluating vehicles. Always conduct a physical inspection, test drive, and consider independent mechanical checks before purchasing a used car.
15. Suspension, Termination and Discontinuation
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service where you breach these Terms, use the Service unlawfully, or abuse our systems or our team. We may decline orders that we reasonably suspect are fraudulent or abusive; if we decline an order after payment, we refund it in full.
If we discontinue the Service, the commitment in Section 3 applies: at least 60 days' notice by email and the opportunity to download PDF copies of your reports first.
16. Complaints and Dispute Resolution
If something has gone wrong, please contact us first via our contact form. We aim to respond within two working days. If we cannot resolve your complaint, we will tell you and give you our final position.
We are not obliged to participate in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and do not currently subscribe to a certified ADR scheme. If a complaint reaches deadlock, we will confirm at that point whether we are willing to use one. Nothing in this section stops you bringing a claim in court (Section 17).
17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you also benefit from any mandatory consumer protections of the law where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts. Business customers agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
18. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Significant changes will be notified via:
- Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Email notification to recent customers
- Notice on our homepage
Changes never apply retroactively: a purchase is governed by the Terms in force when you made it. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
19. General
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ServiceStamp regarding use of the Service. This does not exclude liability for fraudulent misrepresentation, and it does not affect any pre-contract information that the law makes a term of our contract with you.
