1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing and using ServiceStamp ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Service.
ServiceStamp is a vehicle service history checking service that retrieves official manufacturer dealership service records using Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs).
2. Service Description
2.1 What We Provide
ServiceStamp provides:
- Access to official manufacturer dealership service records for 43+ car brands
- Digital service history reports based on VIN lookup
- Service dates, mileage records, service types, and specific service actions
- Coverage for vehicles from Model Year 2012 onwards
- Lifetime access to purchased reports via unique URLs
2.2 What We Do NOT Provide
Our service explicitly does NOT include:
- Independent garage service records
- MOT (Ministry of Transport) test history
- Outstanding finance checks
- HPI data or insurance write-off information
- Mileage verification from third-party sources
- Accident or damage history
- Vehicle valuation or inspection services
We specialize exclusively in OE (Original Equipment) manufacturer dealership service history. Our reports show only services performed at authorized franchise dealerships.
3. Service Limitations
3.1 Coverage Limitations
- Model Year: Generally limited to vehicles from 2012 onwards (manufacturer-specific)
- Geographic Coverage: Primarily European market vehicles
- Supported Brands: 43+ manufacturers (see homepage for full list)
- Service Type: Only authorized dealership services are recorded
3.2 Data Accuracy
We retrieve data from official manufacturer databases through authorized third-party data providers. ServiceStamp uses industry-leading data sources to access manufacturer dealership service records. While we strive for accuracy:
- We rely on data provided by manufacturer systems
- We cannot guarantee completeness if dealerships failed to log services
- Manufacturer database availability may vary
- Some manufacturers provide limited information (e.g., "workshop remarks only")
3.3 Third-Party Data Providers
ServiceStamp retrieves manufacturer service history data through authorized third-party data providers who have direct access to manufacturer databases. While we use industry-leading providers to ensure data quality:
- We cannot guarantee 100% accuracy or completeness of manufacturer-provided records
- Data availability is subject to manufacturer database systems and their third-party access policies
- ServiceStamp is not liable for errors, omissions, or inconsistencies in data provided by manufacturer databases or our data providers
- Service history data reflects what was recorded by authorized dealerships at the time of service
4. Pricing and Payment
4.1 Service Fee
The current price for a service history report is £9.99.00 per VIN (twenty pounds sterling). This is a one-time fee providing lifetime access to the report.
4.2 Payment Processing
- All payments are processed securely through Stripe
- We accept major credit and debit cards
- Payment must be completed before report generation
- All prices include applicable UK VAT
4.3 Price Changes
We reserve the right to change our pricing at any time. Price changes will not affect orders already paid for.
5. Refund Policy
We offer a tiered refund policy based on the outcome of your service history check. This policy ensures fairness while acknowledging the costs involved in providing our service.
5.1 100% Full Refund Cases
You will receive a complete £9.99 refund if we cannot generate your report. This includes the following scenarios:
- VIN Not Found: The VIN you provided does not exist in manufacturer databases. This may indicate:
- VIN entry error (typo or incorrect character)
- Vehicle imported from outside Europe
- VIN not registered in supported manufacturer systems
- Unsupported Vehicle: Your vehicle make, model, or year is not covered by our service:
- Vehicle manufactured before 2012
- Vehicle brand not in our supported list (see homepage)
- Commercial vehicles (vans, trucks) not supported
- Manufacturer Database Unavailable: We cannot access the manufacturer's database due to:
- Technical issues with manufacturer systems
- Temporary system outages
- API access problems
- Duplicate Purchase: You accidentally purchased the same report twice within a short timeframe.
In these cases: No report is generated, no service is delivered, therefore a full refund is appropriate. We will process the refund within 24-48 hours.
5.2 100% Full Refund - Zero Records Found
You will receive a complete £9.99 refund (100%) if your report is successfully generated but contains zero service records.
5.2.1 Why 100% Refund for Zero Records?
We believe in complete transparency and removing all risk from your purchase decision. When your report shows zero records:
- Zero Risk Guarantee: You pay nothing if there's no dealership service history
- Complete Trust: We're confident in our service quality and your satisfaction
- Customer First: Your experience matters more than covering our costs
- Fair Value: You only pay when there's verifiable service history to report
- You Keep the Report: Even with full refund, the report remains yours as proof
5.2.2 Real-World Examples of Zero Records
Example 1: Ford Focus 2016
You enter VIN "WF0XXXXXXXXXXXXX" for a 2016 Ford Focus. We successfully query the Ford manufacturer database and generate a complete report. The report shows:
- VIN: WF0XXXXXXXXXXXXX
- Make: Ford
- Model: Focus
- Year: 2016
- Service Records: 0 entries found
Result: Your vehicle has no Ford dealership service history on record. This likely means:
- Vehicle was serviced exclusively at independent garages
- Vehicle was never serviced (check mileage carefully)
- Owner performed DIY servicing
Refund: 50% (£9.99) - You received a valid report with accurate information.
Example 2: BMW 3 Series 2018
You enter VIN "WBA8XXXXXXXXXXX" for a 2018 BMW 3 Series. We query the BMW database and generate a report showing zero dealership services.
Why this is valuable: For a premium BMW, zero dealership history is a red flag. Most BMW owners use authorized dealers due to:
- Warranty requirements
- Complex BMW technology requiring specialist knowledge
- High resale value preservation
Zero records may indicate the car was imported, has hidden issues, or wasn't maintained properly - all crucial information for a buyer.
Refund: 50% (£9.99) - The information "no dealership history" is valuable for purchase decision.
5.2.3 Why We Don't Offer 100% Refund for Zero Records
Consider these analogies:
- Medical Tests: If you pay for a blood test and the result is negative (no infection found), you still pay the full fee. The test was performed correctly; a negative result is still valuable medical information.
- Background Checks: If an employment background check returns "no criminal record," you don't get a refund. The absence of records is the answer you paid for.
- Property Searches: If a land registry search shows no planning applications, you don't get a refund. "Nothing found" is a valid result.
Similarly, our service is to check whether dealership service history exists, not to guarantee it exists. A report confirming "zero records" fulfills that service.
We believe in complete transparency, so we offer a 100% refund to remove all risk from your purchase - you only pay when there's verifiable service history.
5.3 No Refund Cases
We cannot offer refunds in the following situations:
- User Error - Incorrect VIN Entry: If you deliberately or carelessly enter the wrong VIN and we successfully generate a report for that VIN, no refund is available. The service was provided correctly based on the VIN you submitted. Tip: Always double-check your VIN before purchasing.
- Change of Mind After Viewing Report: Once you've accessed and viewed the report, you cannot request a refund simply because you changed your mind. The service has been delivered.
- Limited Service History (But Some Records Present): If your report shows 1 or more service records, even if fewer than expected, this demonstrates the vehicle has some dealership history. No refund applies.
- Misunderstanding of Service Scope: We explicitly state we only check manufacturer dealership records. If you expected MOT history, HPI data, or independent garage records, this does not qualify for a refund. Please read our service description carefully before purchasing.
- Third-Party Issues Beyond Our Control: If you cannot access your report due to email filtering, spam blocks, or internet connectivity issues on your end, no refund is available. We can resend your report link to resolve access issues.
5.4 Refund Request Process
To request a refund:
- Email us at contact@servicestamp.co.uk within 30 days of purchase
- Include your VIN and email address used for the order
- Briefly explain why you're requesting a refund
- We will review your request within 24-48 hours
- If approved, refunds are processed via Stripe and appear on your card within 5-10 business days
5.5 Refund Approval
Refunds are approved at our discretion based on the criteria outlined above. We reserve the right to investigate suspicious refund requests or patterns of abuse.
6. User Responsibilities
By using our Service, you agree to:
- Provide accurate VIN information
- Use the Service for lawful purposes only
- Not attempt to reverse-engineer or abuse our systems
- Not use automated tools to make bulk requests
- Keep your report URLs secure (they grant access to anyone with the link)
- Not share or resell reports for commercial purposes without permission
7. Intellectual Property
The reports we generate are for your personal use. You own the right to use your purchased report for:
- Verifying a vehicle before purchase
- Proving service history when selling your vehicle
- Personal record-keeping
However, the ServiceStamp website, branding, and software remain our intellectual property.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We provide reports "as is" based on manufacturer database information
- We are not liable for decisions you make based on report information
- We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages
- Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service (£9.99)
- We do not warrant that manufacturer databases are complete or error-free
Important: Our service is one tool for evaluating vehicles. Always conduct a physical inspection, test drive, and consider independent mechanical checks before purchasing a used car.
9. Termination
We reserve the right to:
- Refuse service to anyone for any lawful reason
- Terminate or suspend access for violations of these Terms
- Discontinue the Service at any time (with reasonable notice)
Reports you've already purchased will remain accessible even if we discontinue the Service generally.
10. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Significant changes will be notified via:
- Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Email notification to recent customers

Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
